Overview

The "ChocoPad" contains software with which content can be called up by scanning markers. Playing chocolate-themed video, audio, and augmented reality figures enhances the physical exhibition.
Young visitors are given playful access to the exhibition through a scavenger hunt.

Scope

At the Chocolat Frey visitor center in Buchs (AG), visitors learn more about chocolate production via audio guides. The replacement of these devices was taken as an opportunity to integrate new interaction possibilities.

My Goal

As a designer, it was my mission to create an engaging experience that starts with entering the center and receiving the tablet and continues all the way to leaving with a smiling face and a belly full of chocolate.

Documentation

Planing

Before I started with the project a POC was done and I defined the concept for the different components. My responsibilities included conceptualization, design, and implementation, as well as project management. I am proud that we were able to work through the coordination challenges in a short time frame.

Team and Stakeholder

User Journey

Along with the digital app, the exhibition's physical interaction with visitors and staff had to be designed.
The User Journey formed an effective tool for me to elicit the Pain Points.

We found answers to questions like:
• How and when do visitors receive the ChocoPad?
• How do they return the device?
• What do the staff's procedures look like to shorten their work steps?

Freymes (Markers)

In the beginning, I experimented with self-drawn illustrations, but in the end they didn't quite fit with the corporate identity and weren't ideal given the high-contrast requirement for the software to recognize them.

I have therefore defined and presented more variants of the "Freymes" based on the corporate identity guidelines.

Illustration

Different animals appear during the festive season on the packaging of Chocolat Frey. I redesigned the bunny, fox, and penguin figures for the children's trail.

UI Design

Young chocolate fans ( approx. 7-12 years) could go on a digital voyage of discovery and experience the visitor center from a different perspective thanks to augmented reality and a small quiz.
